DEAD OR ALIVE?

A quick look at the word of God will tell you that the bible talks about five(5) group of spiritually dead people. If however the bible regards one as dead and the person is regarding himself as living, then such a person is deceiving himself or herself. The groups of dead people are as follows.

1.                   SINNERS: All sinners are spiritually dead people. The day a sinner becomes alive is the day that he repents from his sins and cries for forgiveness. When that happens, such a sinner has become aware that he was dead and deeded to give his life to the Lord Jesus to come alive. All sinners as far as the bible is concerned are dead people.

2.                   THE BACKSLIDERS:  they are those who have stopped following the Lord the way HE should be followed. They are people whose spiritual lives are now very weak. Indeed they are people who find it difficult to pray and study the word of God. They find it difficult to witness to others about the Lord Jesus Christ. But the Lord is now asking spiritual sleepers to stay awake: He is also challenging the spiritually dead people to rise up. It is certain therefore that backsliders are spiritual slippers. As far as the Lord is concerned they are dead.

3.                   THE CARNALLY MINDED PEOPLE: "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace" (Romans 8:6). It follows therefore that, a person who is always thinking of carnal things is dead while alive. Such a person is not interested in how you can grow spiritually. He or she is only interested in how to make money and to become more comfortable. A carnal mind is an abomination to God that is why the bible says that to be carnally minded it death.

4.                   PLEASURE SEEKERS: the fourth group of spiritually dead people is found in 1 Timothy 5:6 "But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth". Pleasure seekers today attend churches. They are only happy when there are lots of singing and dancing and entertainment around. Dead people! As far as the bible is concerned they are not even qualified to praise the Lord. "The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence" Psalm 115:17. "The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth" Isaiah 38:19

5.                   THE HATERS OF KNOWLEDGE: The last group of dead people is found in the book of Proverbs 21:6 "The getting of treasure by lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death". These are those who are not interested in learning more about the Lord Jesus Christ. They are just comfortable or contented with how they are spiritually. Such people think they have got it all.

Thus dead people are not qualified to praise God. Dead churches are not even qualified to praise the Lord too. Such people shall not even expect anything that will last from God! In fact the bible says that they are not even qualified to handle the word of God.

Are you dead or alive? Examine yourself today.

See yourself from the word of God, see yourself the way God sees you and not the way you feel or think you are. If God says you are dead, whatever you say aside that is inconsequential.
